Description
Polyglycolic Acid (PGA) is a sterile absorbable synthetic, multifilament suture composed of glycolic acid. The sutures are braided and coated with a blend of polycaprolate, copolymer of caprolactone and glycolide and Calcium Stearate.
The colour of PGA absorbable Suture is violet or undyed. The size is USP 8/0 to USP 3.
Polydioxanone(PDO) is a sterile absorbable synthetic monofilament suture composed of polyester polydioxanone. The PDO Absorbable Suture has been proven to be non-antigenic and non-pyrogenic.
There are two main characteristics of the PDO Absorbable Sutures which are the tensile strength retention and secondly the absorption rate. The PDO Absorbable Suture is available dyed in violet from sizes: USP 7/0-USP 2.
Descriotion
Polyglactin (PGLA) is a sterile absorbable synthetic, multifilament suture composed of polyglactin 910 glycoside an lactide derived from glycolic and lactic acids, coated with a blend of caprolactone/glycolid copolymer and calcium stearoyl lactylate.
PGLA sutures are available violet and undyed color from sizes: USP 6/0-USP 2.
PGLA sutures coated with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate.
1. Characteristics
Catgut Sutures are naturally absorbable sutures.
Chromic catgut Sutures are treated with chromic salt and the suture colour is dark brown.
Chromic catgut Sutures are available from U.S.P. size 3 to size 5-0.
Catgut Sutures are made from longitudinally slitting the intestinal submucosa of sheep and goat followed by a process of twisting and polishing giving the sutures a virtually monofilament finish.
Chromic catgut Sutures absorb by simple enzymatic hydrolytic mechanism and absorption is not as predictable as in synthetic sutures. Catgut sutures tend to absorb faster in infected tissues.
Chromic catgut Suture retains about 50% of the initial tensile strength after 21 - 28 days of implantation and the suture is essentially absorbed within 90 days.
Poliglecaprone 25 (PGCL) is a sterile absorbable synthetic monofilament suture composed of a Poly glycolide-co-caprolactone. PGCL absorbable suture is available bothdyed and un-dyed. The un-dyed Suture is beige in color. The PGCL Suture is available dyed in violet from sizes: USP 6/0-USP 2.
Advantages
High initial tensile strength
Easy handling
Smooth passage through tissue
Excellent knotting ability
Haidike surgical suture production line
From the development of material, medical suture has experienced silk, catgut, chemical synthetic suture and pure natural collagen suture; from the absorption point of view, it has experienced non-absorbable suture and absorbable suture; from its physical form, it can be divided into monofilament and polyfilament; according to the source of raw materials, it can be divided into natural suture (animal tendon suture, sheep intestinal suture, silk). And cotton silk thread) and artificial suture (nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene, PGA, stainless steel wire and tantalum wire) two kinds; according to biodegradability, can be divided into non-absorbable suture (metal thread, cotton thread, polyester, polypropylene, etc.) and absorbable suture (sheep intestine thread, polyethylene lactide, etc.)
