Description
Polyglycolic Acid (PGA) is a sterile absorbable synthetic, multifilament suture composed of glycolic acid. The sutures are braided and coated with a blend of polycaprolate, copolymer of caprolactone and glycolide and Calcium Stearate.
The colour of PGA absorbable Suture is violet or undyed. The size is USP 8/0 to USP 4.
Characteristics
Absorbable suture is widely used in surgery, because it can be absorbed, so there is no need to remove the suture and avoid secondary pain. PAG absorbable suture has the following obvious characteristics:

2. Excellent knotting ability
3. Outstanding holding power through the critical would periode
4. Reliable absorbability
5. Easy to handle
6. Holds knot securely
7. Smooth surface, slides smoothly through the tissue
The implantation study show that 7 days post-implantation 50%of the original tensile strength remains. Absorption is essentially complete about 45-60days.
Due to the rapid loss of tensile strength, POLYGLACTIN should not be used wound support beyond 7 days.
POLYGLACTIN should not be re-sterilized. Contents in packing have been sterilized. Do not use if package is opened or damaged discard opened, unused suture. POLYGLACTIN should be stored at room temperature. Away from moisture and direct heat. Users have to be familiar with surgical procedure including absorbable sutures. Particular factors of each patient should be taken into consideration when healing process in vivo. Handing infected or contamineted wounds. Proper surgical practices should be followed. The use of this suture might be improper in the elderly, patient that are under nourished, weak patients, and patients under certain conditions that could delay the healing of the wound. Do not use after expiry date.
When working with POLYGLACTIN Suture materials great care must be taken to ensure that the use of surgical instruments, such as forceps and needle holders does cause the material to be damaged not lead to damage by being pinched or kinked. The user of POLYGLACTIN sutures should be familiar with surgical suture technique of flat and square ties with additional throws it indicated by the surgical circumstances and the experiences of the surgeon.
