Description

Plain Catgut suture is a sterile absorbable monofilament suture composed of purified collagen derived from either the serosal layer of beef (bovine) or the submucosal fibrous layer of sheep(ovine) intestines. The Plain Catgut suture undergoes a ribbon stage chromicisation and is treated with glycerin. The colour of plain catgut surgical suture is yellow, and the size is USP 7/0 to 4

2. Indications

Plain Catgut Sutures are indicated for use in general surgery. It is suitable for use in softtissue and for ligation, including use inophthalmic procedures, gastrointestinal, dental and gynecological but not for cardiovascular and neurological tissues. The Plain Catgut Sutures are absorbable should not be used where long suture support is necessary.
